Bill completed his undergraduate degree at the University of South Carolina majoring in Business Administration.  He also graduated from the University of South Carolina with a joint graduate degree in Law and a Masters in International Business Administration in the Spanish track.  Upon finishing graduate school, Bill and his wife moved abroad for a year, where he worked for an international travel agency in Buenos Aries, Argentina.  He and his wife returned to the United States where he clerked for the Honorable J. Derham Cole, Circuit Judge for the 7th Judicial Circuit.  Following his clerkship, Bill began working as an assistant solicitor under Bob Ariail for the 13th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

After working for four years as a state prosecutor, where he prosecuted cases ranging from murder to DUI and drug cases, Bill opened Wilkins & Bouton, LLC, with his longtime friend, Robert Wilkins.  Bill enjoys litigation and concentrates most of his practice in the areas of criminal defense and civil litigation.

His civil litigation practice is diverse with most of it focused on personal injury.  He represents people have been seriously injured in car accidents or at work.

His criminal practice focuses mainly on defending individuals in both State and Federal Court across South Carolina, except for in the City of Spartanburg, where Bill acts as the city prosecutor for cases in the Municipal Court.  His defense work varies from juvenile matters and traffic tickets to complex federal drug conspiracies.  Bill has been a member of the CJA list of attorneys since 2011, which qualifies him to receive appointments to represent indigent defendants in federal criminal cases in South Carolina.

Bill is a member of the Greenville County Bar Association and the Greenville Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.  Bill and his wife Margaret live in Greenville with their four children.
